Why this place is important to me

we would really like to have an outdoor shelter. we would like to have somewhere to go with our friends. there is no place safe for us to hang out when the youth club is shut. the problem is that we are living on a building site~ we are part of a regeneration area and they ripped down all the old buildings and have left the place like a mess. this place is important to us cause its our home. we would really like the chance as young people to make the best of the area and create security for us. we would really like the oppertunity to raise our profile within our community.

My plan to improve this place

we would like to build a youth shelter to create safe seating and shelter from the weather.

The History: we have a bit of land next to our youth club and we would like the chance to create a shared space that will benefit the whole community. as young people we would like to build this shelter but also offer the land as a community garden project. (we are working on the community garden as a seperate project with the adults in our community. we plan that from the garden we can create a cafe which will lead to job oppertunities for young people).

The reasons: for the youth shelter is to reduce anti-social behaviour levels within the community. it will also create a postive focal point and oppertunity to develope new skill for us as young people. we would also like the oppertunity to work with adults within our community, in both project areas. many young peoplelive in the St.ninians area, we have discussed at great lengh the advantages of us working towards a youth shelter.

I am part of a steering group which work on areas the young people recognise as areas of improvment. this has been one of the top areas for the last year. this is evidence from monthly meetings we have.

to fund this project we are asking from yourselfs, other local and national funding bodies as well as doing our own fundraising.

thank you kindly for reading this
yours sincerely
all young people from the YT Club
