Why this place is important to me

Our school building was refurbished two years ago, unfortunately there was not enough funding to improve the conditions of the school's courtyard. As this is in the middle of the school and is a popular spot during intervals and lunchtimes; we feel that improving this area would give us somewhere pleasant to sit with our friends and even provide an outdoor tutorial area for some lessons. By involving pupils with the development of this project it will improve their sense of ownership and give them experience in working in a team as well as giving them a new found respect for the school and it's grounds.

My plan to improve this place

We would like to improve the area by providing seating areas, shelters and some landscaping to make the area more attractive for the pupils and the residants of the local environment who look onto this space. This will make pupils happier to be sitting in the area during breaks and so encourage them to spend more time outdoors. We also want to help pupils develop skills for later life for example looking after and cultivating green space.
